Type 3 Enneagram in Stress

The chameleons. I mean the achievers. Performers? You have lots of names and lots of masks.

What's fascinating about Achievers is that they have this superpower of adapting and shape-shifting to the various environments that they're in. Not from a disingenuous space, but they believe their value and being loveable is wrapped up in their doing. So they learn early on to become whatever version of themselves will be most successful.

So what shows up for 3's in Pandemic?

  • Shutting down

  • Wearing Sweatpants

  • Trying to be Instagram Heroes

  • Shifting their ENTIRE BUSINESS PLAN

This type can by nature overdo things. They work too much, go to the gym too much, do lots of things too much. Except feelings. They bury those. And right now when things have been forced to slow down, they're confronted with this massive pile of feelings that they can't go over or under but must go through (going on a bear hunt anyone?).. Or they have found ANY WAY POSSIBLE to keep up speed and accomplish something else with a complete pivot.

So what to do?

3 Tips to Thrive

For 3's to come back to health they need a few things

  • Solitude. Yes again. Give yourself time to move through feelings that are coming up.

  • Focus on Being Instead of Doing. This is a great opportunity for you to lean into BEING. To show up as you. Not you the [fill in the blank], but YOU. Period. To practice taking off the masks and get in touch with who you are at your core.

  • Build something. It's ok to create something new. A new business, a new program, a new event. To pivot. Be conscious of the why behind it though. Are you doing it for recognition or because it fills your boots.
